The
first Almeters, Nicholas and Catherine, arrived in New York
City from Belgium in 1852. The voyage took 52 days by sea.
After arriving in New York City they found work, Nicholas as
a brick layer, and Catherine as a seamstress. By 1870 they
had saved enough money to purchase some land. They moved to
Wyoming County and settled on 177 acres, and began farming.
Today, 139 years and 6 generations later, we are continuing
the family tradition, on the same farm where it all began.
Hi I’m Roger and along with my wife Debbie, our son Brad
and my brother Bruce we’ve been working the farm with our
families since 1979. We have a good team who are passionate
about farming, and that’s important in this line of work.
Dairy farming has made many advances over the years.
Technology and machines have made our work easier, but even
so it takes many dedicated people. We still rise before the
sun, slip on our barn boots and milk the cows!
Although the times we are living in seem uncertain, it is
our desire to produce a safe wholesome food that you can
feel good about feeding to your family. We hope, like the
generations that came before us, that we can continue to get
the milk from our farm to your table!
